Here are the final photos!! I am really happy of the outcome of my work, and I learned a lot from this project. (I added meanings under each photo in the gallery)
Here’s a list of things that I learned:
-Anti-gravity photography techniques
-That I need to buy my own tri-pod
-Long exposure techniques
-More advanced Photoshop shortcuts and editing techniques
“Change” I have Becca releasing butterflies, symbolizing change in her life. Butterflies resemble change due to its metamorphosis stages.
“The Present” I had Ashley leaping for this jar of light, symbolizing her future. This surreal portrait displays a treasure chest, and begs a question, ‘why is that chest there?’ and ‘what does that light contain?’
“Floating on Water” I created this surreal portrait of Ashley floating/falling in front of this tunnel. It raises a couple of questions such as, ‘what is in the tunnel?’, ‘why is she falling?’
“House of Opportunities” This is another photo with the theme of change since Becca is releasing a butterfly.
“A Slave to Time” I have Ashley chained to a clock representing the impacts that time has on her. It is fascinating how much our society relies on time (classes, appointments, etc)
Here are PDFs of a short overview for my final compositions. These show the initial photos all the way to the final edits.
1. 30 Websites to Lose Yourself Into
The link gives a list of all the websites to go to. I thought all of these websites were really creative because they were unique and entertaining. I even thought some of them were useful such as the Noisli because it generates background noise to help you study/focus on a task.
2. LIFX Light Bulb
I thought this light bulb was really cool because it is a multi-colored LED smart bulb that can change from the tip of your smartphone. Now, you don’t have to turn a light off from a light switch; you just need your smartphone!
3. Hovding: Airbag for Cyclists
I thought this was a creative solution for wearing a bike helmet–one that can’t be seen until you fall. I don’t wear bike helmets anymore simply because I don’t like how they look…they look silly even though I know they do have a safety purpose. I would definitely wear a Hovding if I got ahold of one. These even look stylish for men and women!
4. Iota- Folding Toilet
This new toilet design is really neat because it not only saves water when flushing, but also saves space because it can fold in itself. Pretty neat!
This concept is really cool because it is a possible alternative to plastic bottles for water. This concept uses a membrane of algae to enclose the water. I would love to see this become a reality in the near future.
Today, we did some activities related to the Design Heuristics Project. We were given 3 different brainstorming techniques to create salt and pepper shakers, as well as a solar oven design.
1. Plastic Cleaning Ship
I thought this concept was a creative solution for cleaning up the ocean. I am really passionate about ‘going green’ and reducing/recycling our materials, so I think this teenager is on the right path to try to help out this global problem. This ship would collect all the plastic in the ocean and then be recycled.
2. Quit Your Job Advertisement
These advertisements are really creative because they are novel and are eye-catching. They also have an edge of humor, which always makes everything more delightful. These advertisements are saying that life’s too short to work at a job you hate: quit that job and do something you love. The photographs for each scene convey that message perfectly in a humorous way.
3. 3D Nail Portraits
I decided to post this link because I’ve never really seen people create 3D portraits of people. Using various colored nails is a clever way to accomplish this.
4. Pocket Sized Printer
This mini printer is such a creative product! I like how small and portable it is because I always run into the problem of needing a document printed in a short time with no printer around me. With this pocked-sized printer, that problem would definitely be solved. I think this product has a lot of potential for the future market.
5. Creative Sketchings
I am a big fan of these sketchings, mostly because I love how abstract and expressive they are. I also think these drawings are really unique because of its attention to detail and the fact that my eye is constantly moving around the page to look at everything.
I have begun editing and stitching the photos together. Here is where i’m at now… I still have lots of touch-ups to do, in order to make it believable. This stage of work will take the most time because I want to make sure the composition looks good for the end result.
